This Easter Bank Holiday, Viking Arms supported a memorable event that introduced nearly 500 young scouts to the world of target shooting. Held at the Shanklin Rifle and Pistol Target Shooting Club on the picturesque Isle of Wight, the event aimed to support budding interest in rifle shooting.
Throughout the weekend, 492 members of various scouting organisations from across the UK gathered for what many would experience as their first encounter with cartridge rifles. These young enthusiasts, mainly aged between 14 and 25, were not all novices; some had previously shot air rifles. However, the Ruger 10/22 provided a new and exciting challenge.
The Ruger 10/22 rifle is celebrated for its reliability and ease of use, making it an excellent choice for beginners. Its lightweight build and simple operation allow new shooters to handle the firearm safely while focusing on their technique and accuracy. The versatility of the Ruger 10/22 also comes from its customisable features, which can be adapted as the user's skills develop, making it a favourite among novice and experienced shooters alike.
Participants arrived in groups and underwent thorough safety briefings before heading to the firing range. With groups of 10-12 entering the firing points at a time, each scout was meticulously supervised by range officers. Equipped with 10 rounds, the scouts aimed at targets set 25 meters away, with many showcasing impressive accuracy and some achieving notably high scores.
Viking Arms proudly supplied CCI ammunition for the event, with local gun shop Arnold Heal offering additional support underscoring the community's commitment to nurturing the next generation of shooting sports enthusiasts.
The event not only served as an exciting introduction to the world of shooting for many young scouts but also as a testament to the community's support and enthusiasm for promoting responsible and enjoyable shooting practices. At Viking Arms, we are delighted to have played a part in providing the experience and look forward to continuing our support for youth engagement in shooting sports.
This initiative is just one example of how community and corporate support can come together to provide valuable and enriching experiences for young individuals, fostering skills and an interest in shooting sports that can last a lifetime.
